Thomas, 11, is the oldest of three children. Following a period of illness during his childhood, his grandmother in Adonara has forbidden his parents to cut his hair until he is able to visit his ancestral village.

Saminah

Saminah, 11, is a Suluk girl whose parents were born in Sabah. She attends an informal learning centre for three hours, four mornings a week, and enjoys going to pray.
